For the pros, this has become routine and they know the best beaches, and the best spots to catch the ultimate waves. However, if you are an amateur surfer, or just looking to get some exercise out on the beach, what is the best time of day to catch the biggest waves?
There are two times of day when the tide will be at its higest point, therefore, for the thrill and adventure seekers looking to catch the big waves, this is when you want to be out there. Either very early in the morning, or right before dusk, are the best times to catch the highest waves. These times of day are when the ocean is most likely to swell and break evenly, giving the surfer the ultimate thrill of “hanging ten.”
When going out make sure you have the proper gear, and if you are not a pro (or at least very experienced), make sure you have someone around who is skilled enough to help you out in the event something goes wrong. Catching the best waves is really dependant on getting out when the tide is right.
